Commis is a Two-Star Michelin-rated fine dining restaurant in Oakland, California led by James Beard Foundation Nominated Chef James Syhabout. At Commis, our dining experiences take place in a warm, comfortable and relaxing dining room appointed by glowing glass light pendants, dark furniture, bare walnut tables, dim lit candles, floral arrangements, and can last anywhere from 2.5 to 3 hours. Delivered by our attentive service staff and sommeliers, the cuisine of Commis showcases some of the best locally-sourced Northern California ingredients that are in season through modern and classic cooking techniques. The cuisine aims to bridge the flavors, textures and temperatures of the East and West with every course with the intention to excite and satisfy.

dining room reservations

Commis Dining Room experience offers a 10-course tasting menu for $279 per person. Pricing excludes beverages, sales tax, and a 20% service charge. An optional global beverage pairing is also available for $139 per person. To book a reservation, we require a $100 per guest security deposit. Please note that the deposit will be credited towards your final bill at the time of service. If you are running late for your reservation, please be aware that we have a 15 minute grace period. Kindly notify the restaurant if you are running later than 15 minutes after your reservation time. You can also refer to our late arrivals policy below.

bar reservations

The Commis Bar experience offers a 10-course tasting menu for $259 per person. Pricing excludes beverages, sales tax, and a 20% service charge. An optional global beverage pairing is also available for $139 per person. To book a reservation, we require a $100 per guest security deposit with the deposit being credited towards your final check after your experience at the restaurant. Please note that we have a 15 minute grace period. Please call us if you are running later than 15 minutes after your reservation time. You can also refer to our late arrivals policy below.

late arrivals

We allow a 15 minute grace period for guests running late to their reservation. However, we are unable to accommodate guests who arrive later than 15 minutes of their reservation time. Please contact us directly if you find yourself running late. To ensure a smooth flow of service for the dining room and other guests, if your party is already seated and there are late arrivals, those guests will join the meal at the course your party is enjoying.

cancellation policy

To cancel, reschedule, or modify a reservation, guests must contact us 48 hours prior to their reservation time to receive a full refund. Any cancellations or modifications to reservations within 48 hours of a guest’s reservation time will be subject to a forfeit of their deposit. Since there is a considerable amount of preparation involved with each reservation, our cancellation policy also includes same-day reservations. Therefore, any cancellations or reschedules to same-day reservations will also be subject to a forfeit of the deposit.

dietary restrictions and allergies

With the multi-course fixed menu it is difficult for our small restaurant to accommodate all dietary restrictions and allergies. We offer separate modified menus for vegetarians and pescatarians upon request and with a 24 hour minimum advance notice. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a vegan menu. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies to note for your reservation, please provide the information upon booking on OpenTable or contact the restaurant prior to your visit.

citrus, butter, fish sauce, gelatin, soy products, with and without traces of gluten

alliums, mushrooms & seaweed in a sauce or stock (actual pieces can be removed)
